All Kinds of Fun

May 16, 2009

This Saturday we got invited to Cameron’s 5th birthday party which was held at The Coop.  Although the twins aren’t big enough to enjoy the huge indoor slide or light up dance floor, there were plenty of age appropriate toys for them. Dominik got his first tattoo and Scarlett practiced her standing.

Spring Break in San Francisco

April 9, 2009

San Francisco was a culinary adventure for these young palates. Up until this trip we’ve been exposing Dominik and Scarlett to foods regularly from our local farmers market. Their favorites have been: strained blueberries, avocado, sweet potato, cauliflower, carrots, steamed diced apples, Cheerios, Ritz Crackers, green beans with mint, and mashed potatoes with butter. On our trip we really pulled out the stops and let them try: pancakes, french fries, olives, mac n’ cheese, grilled asparagus, roasted potatoes, hummus, pita, tuna salad, split pea soup, mango juice and feta cheese crumbles.

When we checked into our hotel Dominik and Scarlett were really excited to crawl around the room and check out their new environment while we unpacked. They especially enjoyed the slippery bathroom floor which Dom could easily army crawl across.

The twins also got to meet their great -aunt Candace and great-uncle Pete (the reason for our trip) and second cousin Zach. They also got to meet and go out to eat with our friends Mike, Karin, and Lily, and Chaz, Rochelle, and Amanda. Candace and Pete very kindly volunteered to baby-sit one night so we could go see a movie which was awesome for us but more than a little nerve wracking for them since Dom n’ Scarlett wouldn’t go to sleep without yelling and crying for about 45 minutes.  But as the ol’ timers say, it’s good for their lungs. Thanks! (Sorry).

Really the trip was a smash hit. We have so many pictures that there’s too many to upload so check out the slide show on flickr.

Here’s a couple of our favorites if you don’t have time for the full show.

Crab Crawl

April 4, 2009

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks.  First, our good friends Ryan and Sally had their baby girl!  Check her out on their blog. The biggest news in our lives is that Scarlett is crawling.  Unfortunately, she’s so fast we haven’t been able to capture more than a blur on camera.  Here are some photos from a Twinkle Time concert we went to last weekend with our friend Ryley and a play date we had with Kalvin.

We also did some recession shopping.  New shoes two sizes too big for upcoming walkers: $9.00!

Last Saturday we also drove to Malibu to visit our friends Sarah and Steve in their beautiful waterfront home.  We took a long walk on the beach and fed the gulls.

A Day at the Park.

March 1, 2009

Today we drove the twins to Santa Monica to visit our good friends, Sara and Garen at their new condo. Then Emma and Sophie joined us all for brunch! After a delightful meal we went to Clover Park where the twins had their first ride on a swing.

Matinee Date

January 4, 2009

Our very good friends, Emma and Sophie, came over for a few hours to watch the kids so that MJ and I could have a matinee date.  While we saw Bolt, Scarlett played in her exersaucer.

Then everyone went for a walk:

Much to our surprise, the twins were napping by the time we got home. Parenting seems to come naturally to these two and we can’t wait for them to have kids of their own!

More Christmas Photos

December 31, 2008

After we opened presents, we headed over to our friend and neighbor Louise’s house for brunch. Scarlett and Dom were very social and had a great time. We got to eat tons of tasty home cooked food and enjoy spending time with good friends.

‘Tis the Season

December 22, 2008

So far, we’ve taken the twins to three holiday parties. Unfortunately, by the time we’ve gotten them ready to go and packed up all of their gear within the magical “between feeding” time, we’ve inevitably forgotten to bring the camera. The following photos were taken with iPhones or a Blackberry.

This party was the latest the twins have ever stayed out. They have a strict 8 P.M. bedtime, but we decided to let them have a little fun and we didn’t get home until 11!  We thought we’d be in for it the next day since they both rise by 6:30, but Scarlett SLEPT UNTIL NOON, napped all the following day, and then slept through the night (8 PM – 7 AM!) the following night. Could late night partying the answer to babies’ sleep problems?

We have successfully taught Scarlett how to Nom.  Here she’s taking a bite of Sarah Ann’s delicious face. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
